Sub-montane hay meadows
Sub-montane hay meadows - 6510 - These Alchemillo-Trisetetum meadows replace the lowland hay meadows of Arrhenatherum elatius at altitudes of between 300 and 550 metres. They are established on soils that are less rich in nutrients, develop a lower turf (50 to 80 cm) and include more species, particularly dicotyledons and montane species. They are dominated mainly by Red Fescue Festuca rubra and Agrostis capillaris, and are also characterised by the presence of Yelow Oatgrass Trisetum flavescens. These Ardenne hay meadows once played a key role in grassland production.
In 2015, the project's Natura 2000 sites covered 239 hectares of this habitat.
